In an unprecedented show of support from the Biden Administration, Labor Secretary Marty Walsh joined Kellogg’s workers on a picket line in October.
Walsh, a 32-year member of Laborers’ Local 223 in Boston, told striking workers outside the Kellogg Company plant in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, “you do have support.”
“I stand here with you today, on behalf of myself and President Biden, to let you know how much the President cares about and feels for workers in America,” Walsh said.
About 1,400 Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco, and Grain Millers’ (BCTGM) members are on strike at four Kellogg plants in Pennsylvania; Battle Creek, Michigan; Omaha, Nebraska; and Memphis Tennesee.
Walsh told the crowd, “it might be a little different for a Secretary of Labor of the United States of America coming out and standing on a picket line, but when it’s in your blood, it’s in your blood.”
